Carnival is celebrated all over the country in Brazil. Two of the most popular ones are in Salvador and Rio de Janeiro. Both are exciting and to pick which one is better can be a little hard.

You will probably have to fly to Sao Paulo first and then get on a two and a half hour flight to Salvador. You will have to brush up on your Portuguese too since there aren’t many English speakers in the country.

The food in Salvador is renown all over the world and especially during the carnival when the number of food options only go up. There are a lot of beaches in Salvador, and it gets pretty crazy around carnival time. Just imagine millions of people no matter where you go.

You will meet people from the south, interiors, big cities, the northeast and the Amazon in Salvador. It’s certainly the most popular carnival in Brazil. If you’re young and want to party, this is where you need to be.

There are some great historic sites to see in Salvador. Unfortunately, everything’s closed during the Carnival. If you want to see what the place has to offer in terms of tourism, be sure to visit a few days before Carnival.

You aren’t going to get too many options in terms of stay. If you’re looking for a 5 or 4 star hotel accommodation, this certainly isn’t the place for you. But, if you’re more concerned about the party and less about the stay, you’re going to feel right at home.

If you’re a huge party animal, Salvador is the place to be. It’s a front seat ticket to the greatest festival in the world.
